The diversity and craziness, the charm and absolute commitment, the unpredictability and spontaneity of  international art in the street took over the city now for the 22nd time already, arousing enthusiasm from over 22,000 visitors.

Forest creatures, butterflies, penguins, angels, dragons and other fantasy figures wandered across the main square, surprising passers-by with spontaneous interactions. Circus acrobatics and juggling combined with an enjoyable portion of comedy achieved thrilling heights thanks to a jump-rope, unicycle or ladder. Poetic high wire acts, interactive light performances, theater in caravans, wooden marionettes and shadow puppets transformed selected locations in the open air arenas of street theater filled to the bursting point.

The proximity to other performances and the direct contact with the audience is an incredible challenge and demands full attention and concentration. Without protective theater stages or closed concert halls, street music and street theater offer artistic presentations at the highest level of quality and not “just entertainment”.

The innovations of this year’s festival were received by the public as well as the artists with enthusiasm: the sound courts, the Pflaster Nightline in the cafes of Linz, and above all the Kaleidoscope Nights in the Spektakel Tent on Pfarrplatz. Selected Pflasterspektakel artist groups presented excerpts and highlights of their performances in a circus tent atmosphere.
